Towergate Underwriting, part of Towergate Partnership group of companies, has come a long way since its formation in 1997. Whilst the management team always knew that a window of opportunity existed to acquire and develop specialist underwriting agencies, we could not have imagined that demand from both potential vendors and insurers would enable the Group to grow to more than 30 operating divisions underwriting in excess of £500m of Gross Written Premium.

 

Insurers had minimised their links with intermediaries across the country; agency culling, branch closures, and reducing product ranges all combined to further the split between insurer and intermediary. Towergate Underwriting sought to fill that gap - operating as a 'virtual insurer' carrying out all the functions of an insurer without carrying the ultimate risk.

 

The Towergate Underwriting model works successfully in partnership with both intermediaries and insurers alike.

Towergate Underwriting provides a wide range of insurance products. This range will expand continuously as Towergate acquires and develops schemes to meet the well-defined client needs. Towergate will look to effectively underwrite 'non-standard' products where a high degree of 'affinity' and effective distribution exists.
